Mumbai-based impact investor Ankur Capital has invested Rs 60 lakh ($89,000) in Suma Agro, a Chennai-based sustainable agro-input firm. Launched in 2011 Suma Agro offers humic-acid-based soil nutrient solutions, which, it claims, boost agricultural produce.It operates a sole manufacturing plant near Chennai which boasts of a production capacity of 24 lakh litres.

Modasta, a multi-lingual health content portal and queries platform, has raised $1.5 million (about Rs 10 crore) from Mauritius-based high net worth individuals (HNIs). The funding will be utilized for business growth, technology upgradation, talent acquisition and marketing outreach activities.

Artificial intelligence-powered personal shopping assistant start-up Mezi has raised $9 million in a Series A funding round from existing investor Nexus Venture Partners and new investors Saama Capital and American Express Ventures. The funding will be utilized to support the company’s growth and accelerate Mezi’s product and artificial intelligence technology development around conversational commerce, natural language processing and machine learning.

Hyderabad-based mobile learning management platform Byndr has raised USD 700,000 (Rs 4.70 crore) in seed funding from Education Design Studio (accelerator at the University of Pennsylvania), Ben Franklin Technology Partners and a group of angel investors. The funding will be utilized to expand sales and development team.
