TeamLease Services Limited is expanding its focus on the higher margin IT staffing business by acquiring local rival NichePro Technologies for INR 29 Crore. This acquisition helps TeamLease to tap into the niche IT staffing for product companies and complements their recent acquisition of ASAP Info Systems which caters to IT services companies.
Smartphone repair e-commerce platform JustLikeNew has raised $500K through LetsVenture. The funding will be raised utilized to penetrate deeper into JustLikeNew’s existing target cities and to make improvements in its IT infrastructure in order to provide users with a seamless repair experience. The year old startup provides free pickup and drop service for smartphones and tablets with a service turnaround time of 48 hours, with an aim to bring quality repair at customers’ doorstep.
Seed company Namdeo Umaji will be investing INR 3 Crore in its ecommerce venture, Ugaoo, a gardening and farming portal. Launched earlier this year, Ugaoo focuses on the gardening and landscaping market. The company will now reach out to consumers in Tier 2 cities like Surat, Nashik, Kochi,to tap into the growing market potential in these cities. The funding will be utilized to meet the demand from the agriculture sector strengthening the infrastructure and product offerings.
Joe Hukum, which provides automated chat-based solutions to companies, has received commitment for a pre-Series A round of funding. The startup got commitment from Jabong’s chief technology officer (CTO) Sumit Jain. The startup is looking to raise under $1 million (Rs 6.7 crore) and is in talks with a few institutional funds and angel investors.
Southeast Asia ride-hailing startup Grab raised $750 million in equity financing from investors including Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. Grab, which operates as many as 1.5 million daily bookings across six countries will invest in mobile payments and sustain its pace of Asian expansion.
