Ethnic retailer Fabindia’s MD William Bissell has invested an undisclosed amount in online fast fashion brand StalkBuyLove. This is an extension of the e-tailer’s last round of funding when it had raised about $1.5 million from Silicon Valley incubator 500 Startups and German venture fund Littlerock earlier this year. The funding will be utilized to spur growth and improve supply chain, fulfillment network and hire fresh talent in design team.
Chinese internet behemoth Alibaba, which aims to enter the domestic e-commerce market by early next year, has held discussions to acquire online marketplace ShopClues, which is valued at over $1 billion. Alibaba wants to merge the marketplace of Paytm, in which it has a stake, with the much bigger rival ShopClues, as it is prospecting several acquisition targets to firm up an India entry against rival Amazon.
Ahmedabad-based curated ecommerce marketplace for sweets, dry fruits and handicrafts, Salebhai , has raised INR 10 crore in funding from Brand Capital. Launched in September 2015 Salebhai is a one-stop ecommerce marketplace for regional products, a list that includes, sweets, namkeen, chocolates, bakery items, spices, dry fruits, beverages, and pickles. The startup claims to source its products from over 100 cities and 250 vendors across the country.
Online lingerie brand Buttercups Intimates Pvt Ltd has raised a pre-series A funding from online marketplace Snapdeal’s former chief product officer Anand Chandrasekaran, and its existing angel investors Kanwaljit Singh and Manoj Varghese. The funding will be utilized to expand the product range.
Mumbai-based jewellery-focused community marketplace Joolz has raised (about $500,00 in a pre-Series-A round led by two prominent early-stage venture capital firms, Silicon Valley-based Powerhouse Ventures and Japan’s M&S Partners. The funding will be utilized for operations, products, marketing and hiring.
