Social networking app Sharechat, which helps the local, vernacular crowd to chat and share posts in their regional languages, has raised $4 million. Funds from the latest round, led by Lightspeed India Partners and existing investors SAIF Partners and India Quotient, will be utilized to extend the app’s reach to smaller cities for people to communicate in Bengali, Tamil, Oriya, Bhojpuri, among other languages. A portion of this Series-A funding will also be used to recruit developers.
