Social networking app Sharechat, which helps the local, vernacular crowd to chat and share posts in their regional languages, has raised $4 million. Funds from the latest round, led by Lightspeed India Partners and existing investors SAIF Partners and India Quotient, will be utilized to extend the app’s reach to smaller cities for people to communicate in Bengali, Tamil, Oriya, Bhojpuri, among other languages. A portion of this Series-A funding will also be used to recruit developers.




India’s second-largest IT services company Infosys Ltd will invest in the maiden fund of home grown early-stage venture capital firm Stellaris Venture Partners.Infosys will invest Rs 31.6 crore ($4.62 million) for a minority holding of up to a fifth of overall corpus being raised under Stellaris Venture Partners India I. This money will help Stellaris to make first close of its debut fund.
