Ed-tech startup Byju’s has raised $50 million (Rs 332 crore) in a round co-led by Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), marking the first investment of the philanthropic foundation of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan in Asia. The funding will be utilized to move towards the next stage of growth.
Sorting Hat Technologies Pvt Ltd, which runs educational-technology platform Unacademy, has raised $1 million from a clutch of investors including Flipkart co-founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal and Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. The funding will be utilized to develop apps and products and hire employees.
Mumbai based ed tech startup Gradopedia has raised an undisclosed round of seed funding from investors in Dubai. Gradopedia is a career discovery platform and was part of the first batch of startups housed at Pune based edtech accelerator, Edugild. The funding will be utilized to build internal capabilities in learning and development and build technology in-house.
Genext Students, a hybrid ed-tech tutoring platform, has raised funding from 1Crowd, an equity crowd funding platform. The funding will be utilized to accelerate product technology development, enhance marketing efforts and increase team size.
Delhi-based educational-technology firm Transweb Educational Services Pvt. Ltd has raised its Series A round of funding from 500 Startups, a Silicon Valley-based startup accelerator and early-stage VC fund house. Transweb, which provides online tutorial services, has raised over Rs 80 lakh ($120,000) from the US-based firm on a fully diluted basis through a preferential allotment.
