Fresh veg supplier Lawrencedale raises funding from BESTSELLER, Unitus Impact

Ooty-based Lawrencedale Agro Processing India Pvt Ltd, which supplies farm fresh vegetables to organised retailers in south India under the brand ‘Leaf’, has raised an undisclosed amount in a fresh fundraising from Denmark-based BESTSELLER FOUNDATION and US-based venture capital fund Unitus Impact. The funding will be utilized to expand reach across South India and reach out to more horticulture belts.

News aggregator app NewsDistill raises $100K in seed funding

NewsDistill, a city-based news aggregator app has raised USD 100,000 in seed funding from a group of investors including Ganesh Narasimhan, Ramana Thumu, and Sudhir Mallem. Launched in 2015, NewsDistill aggregates news sourced from various Indian newspapers, television channels, RSS feeds, custom feeds and social media in eight major Indian languages besides English.

Health-tech startup Doctor Insta raises funding from RoundGlass Partners

Doctor Insta Pvt Ltd, which provides healthcare consultation through video conferencing, has received over $1 million from US-based venture capital firm RoundGlass Partners.  The funding will be utilized for marketing two new concepts—Health ATM and Insta Wall. The startup is planning to spend around INR 20 crore on these two concepts over the next 18 months.

Reliance Communications to merge its wireless telecom business with Aircel to create India’s 4th-biggest mobile phone operator

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications has agreed to merge its wireless telecom business with smaller rival Aircel to create the country’s 4th-biggest mobile phone operator with asset base of more than INR 65,000 crore. In the largest consolidation in the country’s telecom sector, RCom and Aircel’s majority owner, Malaysia’s Maxis Communications Berhad (MCB), announced signing of definitive documents for the merger of their Indian wireless businesses. RCom and Aircel will hold 50 per cent each in the new company. The board of the new company will have equal representation from the two sides.

SHEROES, the career portal for women owned and operated by Delhi-based Applied Life Pvt Ltd, acquired an online counselling platform, LoveDoctor for an undisclosed amount. SHEROES already offers mentoring and career helpline support to its community and this (purchase of LoveDoctor.in) will integrate with those efforts.
