Hike Messenger has raised $175 million in a fresh round of funding led by Tencent Holdings and Foxconn Technology Group, joining the coveted ‘unicorn’ club of startups. The company would be investing in services, people, office space as well as some long term bets in areas of machine learning and computer vision.
Mobile security company Appknox has raised about $875K in a bridge round from Singapore-based venture capital firm SeedPlus. As part of the funding arrangement, Bengaluru-based Appknox will be partially working out of Singapore. The company, which analyses mobile app security on the cloud, has among its clients major ecommerce and payments companies such as Paytm, BigBasket, Myntra and Goibibo.
Daily Delite India Pvt Ltd, which runs three supermarkets in the national capital of Delhi, has acquired Delhi Mandi, a fresh fruits and vegetables e-tailer for an undisclosed amount. The deal will help Daily Delite increase its B2C sales.
Gurgaon-based DSM Fresh Foods Pvt Ltd, which runs online startup Zappfresh to sell raw meat and associated ready-to-eat products, has raised an undisclosed amount in fresh funding mainly from Indian Angel Network investor Ashvin Chadha and a Mumbai-based affluent individual from the hospitality sector. The funding will be utilized to hire people in key departments and increase capacity.
Ahmedabad-based curated ecommerce marketplace for sweets, dry fruits and handicrafts, Salebhai , has raised INR 10 crore in funding from Brand Capital. Launched in September 2015 Salebhai is a one-stop ecommerce marketplace for regional products, a list that includes, sweets, namkeen, chocolates, bakery items, spices, dry fruits, beverages, and pickles. The startup claims to source its products from over 100 cities and 250 vendors across the country.
